A world of Experiences Cultural Activity

If EL ROCIO is world famous, it is because of the venerated "Mariana" image that resides there and gives it its name: La Virgen del Rocío . The beautiful Basilica located in front of the mother marsh, a few meters from La Malvasia. It is a must for pilgrims and devotees, not only during the massive pilgrimage, but throughout the year. The Treasure Museum is also located there, where we can admire the extensive and highly valuable trousseau of the Virgin.

There are many brotherhoods that visit the village and the lady throughout the year, filling the streets of Rocío with devout joy. The great Rociera pilgrimage in the Andalusian spring attracts more than one and a half million people to this place every year. A tradition that makes this corner of the world even more special.

In the surroundings of the Doñana National Park, in the medium-low section of the Rocina stream, stands the Palacio del Acebrón  It is an old house-palace, built in 1961 as a private residence, which currently houses a center for dissemination and knowledge of the ethnographic heritage of the national park and the uses and customs of the area.

Currently, within its function as a visitor center, the palace houses the exhibition 'Doñana and man'.

It is located in an old oil mill from the 18th century, known as Molino de Cepeda, and shows aspects of the traditional culture of the municipality. That highlights the link between Almonte and the Doñana National Park.

The Museum funds are made up of an ethnographic collection that focuses on showing the links between culture and the natural environment.

In addition, it has a wide sample of the Rocío festival, such as a copy of the monument of the Grandmothers of Almonte and the ephemeral architecture exhibited for the Coming of the Virgin.

The Almonte Wine Museum is located inside a winery complex from the end of the 19th century, recently restored. A rehabilitation that has managed to recover, in a respectful and efficient way, one of the most emblematic architectural spaces in the city of Almonte  providing it with content and attractiveness through an architectural intervention that combines tradition and modernity.

The visit to the Wine Museum offers the possibility of making an interpretive route through the old winery and discovering the secrets that are hidden in it.

The smell of must that permeates the whole complex, evocative images that take us to the old winery, the aromas that the wines give off or the possibility of tasting them as part of the visit, are just some of the attractions that the museum offers.

From these lands and with what they provided, Christopher Columbus began his expedition to the new world. From the wild horses that graze in these marshes, which give rise to the American Mustangs, to the so-called discovery wines, Huelva was a necessary ally, so that ships with an uncertain course and destination could set sail. Each product, each good that went with them, became fundamental, to get ahead in the adventure they undertook.

You can visit the Dock of the caravels in the Port of Palos and feel together with the replicas of the pint, the girl and the Santa María, what those men lived when facing such an adventure.
